What We Believe
What We Believe
At Trinity Presbyterian Church, our faith is rooted in the historic Christian Church and the Reformed tradition of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. We believe that the Gospel is good news for everyone, and we seek to honor God through faithful worship, biblical preaching, and genuine community.
The Authority of Scripture
We affirm the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as the inspired Word of God and the unique, authoritative standard for our faith and daily living. Scripture tells the story of God’s redeeming love and guides us in what it means to follow Jesus Christ in today’s world.
Our Subordinate Standards
As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, our faith and doctrine are guided by two key subordinate standards:
- The Westminster Confession of Faith: Formulated in the 17th century, this historic confession provides the foundational theological framework for our Reformed identity, affirming the sovereignty of God, salvation by grace through faith, and the authority of Scripture.
- Living Faith (Une Foi Vivante): Approved as a subordinate standard in 1998, Living Faith provides a contemporary statement of Presbyterian belief, translating our historic faith into clear, modern language for today’s culture.
Salvation Through Grace
We believe in one God, revealed in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Salvation is the free gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection reconcile us to God.
A Welcoming & Biblical Fellowship
Following the example of Jesus Christ, Trinity is a community marked by grace, hospitality, and truth. No matter where you are on your life or spiritual journey, our doors are open to you. We gather as a family of believers to worship together, grow in the knowledge of God, and serve our neighbors in Oshawa and beyond.
